Caring for blonde hair can be a tricky, time-consuming role, however, it’s never more trouble than it’s worth!
At Number 2 The Green we have devised these handy tips to help you keep your blonde hair perfectly toned in between salon visits.
Follow the Blonde Haired Girls Guide :
1/. Excessive washing is a no!
Achieving and maintaining gorgeous platinum locks like Taylor Swift takes a lot of commitment. Have you found that your hair becomes yellow or brassy quite quickly? Washing your hair everyday plays a huge role in this. Unfortunately the more you wash your hair, the faster you will strip the colour pigments from it. Finding the right blonde shampoo and conditioner that keeps your hair feeling clean and light will help prevent it becoming greasy quickly. Keep reading to discover more about the brand new hair products for blonde hair that will be arriving at The Green very shortly.
2/. Choose the right products
Shampoos that contain sodium laureth sulphates will ultimately strip the hair of it’s colour. Using SLS, VEGAN and paraben free shampoo and conditioner such as the Davines shampoo, will help maintain your desired blonde hair colour for longer. The silver shampoo is designed to remove the yellow and golden tones from the hair so you’re left with a salon standard colour for longer.
3/. Whip up hair hydration
Out of the array of shades you can now colour your hair, blonde can be the most damaging because it requires longer chemical exposure that leaves the hair more porous. Here at the salon, we opt to use the revolutionary Wellaplex, a specialist silicone-free additive that restructures and conditions the hair during any bleaching or lightening process. You will see immediate results and visibly better hair. If you do not have the luxury of Wellaplex, it is not unusual to be left with dehydrated, straw-like hair and it isn’t just down to the colour. Sunlight exposure and mechanical damage from brushing or styling all contribute to dry and damaged hair. This is because porous hair is no longer protected by a tight seal of cuticles it readily gains and loses water to the air around it. As a solution to this problem, we recommend our clients treat themselves to a milk_shake Integrity Treatment once a week. The beauty of it is you don’t always need to come to the salon, even though we’d love to see you! The Integrity range is affordable and easy to whip up at home. Simply mix the intensive treatment into the nourishing muru muru butter using 50% of each product, making enough to cover you hair and you’ll be left with super sleek hair a la Poppy Delevingne.
4/. Invest in Heat Protection
We all know it’s best to give your hair a break from heat styling tools but leaving the house resembling a caveman? Absolutely not!!! Most of us would include our straighteners as the daily essential we just can’t live without. Let’s face it, no pain, no gain. So if you’re using heat styling tools on a daily basis then heat protection is a necessity. The team at Number 2 The Green suggest that you use our Davines protect or take insta inspo and whip up a beautiful summer braid.
5/. Shield from the Sunshine
Exposure to sunshine can impact the colour of your blonde hair and change your moisture levels. So if you know you’re going to be sat in the sun for a long period of time, make sure you have a hat handy or you invest in a product that is designed to give you UV protection. It’s easy to underestimate the power of the English sun but it can really make a difference on altering you hair colour. If you would like to find out more about the best products for your hair ask your stylist at Number 2 The Green during your consultation.
6/. Consult Your No. 2 The Green Stylist
Lightening your own hair is a serious risk because you can never guarantee how the colour will turn out on your hair. Especially when it comes to highlights, ombre, balayage and platinum as they require complex training to achieve the best results. By leaving it to the experts, you can guarantee a vibrant and even colour that is going to leave your hair in a good condition.
As an added bonus, Davines have answered your prayers by introducing the brand new Heart Of Glass Blonde range that will be coming to The Green very soon. Blue pigments prevent cool blondes from taking on warm shades and warm blondes from getting even warmer reflects and the pigments Davines use derive from the extract of Jagua, a native fruit from the tropical forests of Colombia. It is 100% natural, a plant-based alternative to synthetic pigments: good for blondes, as well as for nature ?
