At Number 2 The Green we spend time with our clients to find their perfect hair colour. It is vital that we choose tones that compliment your complexion, enhance your eyes and work your personality.

This season there has been a surge in requests for red hair after Sienna Miller rocked front row at global fashion weeks with her new auburn do.  From the deepest auburn to the lightest strawberry blonde, if you are rocking red then your hair needs to be in ultimate condition. Follow these rules to keep your red hair looking fabulous in between visits to your favourite hair salon.

The Red Hair Rules :

#1. Post Colour Hair Treatment.  Nothing is more essential that a post colour hair treatment in the salon. We use milk_shake treatments to ensure that your colour is locked into the hair and in optimal condition.

#2. Home Hair Care Regime. Professional shampoo and conditioner are a must if you would like to preserve your red hair colour and keep it looking vibrant and healthy. Opt for shampoos that are SLS and paraben free that are specifically for colour treated hair – they are far less likely to strip the hair of colour.

#3. Cold Water Blast. Always blast your hair with a shot of cold water after you have shampooed – this ensures the cuticles are sealed and locks colour and moisture in.

#4. Shampoo Less. It stands to reason that the less you wash your hair, the longer the colour will last.

#5. Protect. Protect your hair from harmful sunrays either by shading with a hat or using UVA and UVB hair protection conditioners. Just ask at reception, throughout the year Number 2 The Green are able to supply you with suncare products.

#6. Specialist. When choosing a new hair colour it is important to understand the consequences. All blondes should be aware that red hair colour is difficult to remove from the hair – there is no doubt that if you wish to go red you should visit a colour specialist that can assess skin tones, hair type and your individual desires.
